My first blog is out, and it feels great to see the response I have received. I must admit I am delighted to learn that many of my readers were so welcoming towards the idea of digitisation of hospitals. Hospital information management systems, widely known as HIMS, a tool which helps in gathering, aggregating, analysing and using information hence taking actions to improve the performance of healthcare systems.
Many readers from the hospital industry and other walks of life were keen to understand more about the HIMS space and how it will change the whole hospital industry inside out. While this was going on at one end, I also received some responses where they were facing a dilemma, dilemmas whether to switch to HIMS or to stick to the customary old hospital management practises. Cost and return on investment was a concern mentioned by a few readers as these things are crucial benchmarks for the top management of hospitals.
One of my connections asked me, how much should I spend” and “Is it required?” So in response, I would say it truly depends upon the goal and the vision of the organisation, the challenge they are facing currently and how keen they are towards the elimination of human limitations, inaccuracies and inefficiency in the administrative process.
It also depends upon the experience they want to provide their clients, as a satisfied customer is the best business strategy. Of course, depending upon goals and objectives, the charge of the service is proportional, so if I say that technology plays a central and strategic role in this day and age, then I don’t think anyone will disagree with it. Particularly, when we are in the health service industry, we need to have the records and data digital so that we can access them, transfer them, or update them within the snap of a finger, not to forget how helpful it can be during emergencies.
These elements directly or indirectly will contribute to business growth, providing a good level of customer service, minimising operational costs and maximising revenues. This capital can then be invested into further development of the hospital services, hence generating more revenue for the organisation. Technology can help hospitals to achieve all of these objectives and more,
MIPL’S Lifeline suite software will help businesses improve operational efficiency, replace laborious paper-based processes and reduce overall costs. So when asked, how much do I spend on HIMS? I will say the right question here would be how much should I invest in HIMS? Here we are not just spending but investing in something constructive and worthwhile, right?
After all, HIMS is an asset, and assets put money in your pocket!
